Policy Initiative Implemented by Nurse Leaders of the American Association for Nursing Leadership (AONL)
The organization initiated a funding program that aims at ensuring that there is enough supply and distribution of qualified nurses to provide adequate medical support to the nation. The United States is experiencing an increase in healthcare needs, and the number is expected to rise. Therefore, the funding is to fund institutions that educate nurses to do their practice in medically under served communities. The institutions are expected to provide education that will prepare registered nurses to provide medical care to the vulnerable population. The programs also seek to boost retention of the workforce by initiating loan forgiveness programs for nurses and the faculty who provide education for clinical nursing(“Sustain and Grow Funding for Nursing | AONL,” 2020).
The Processes Used By the Organization in Formulating and Implementing a Policy Agenda
The organization avails all public policy information on issues concerning nursing and general healthcare to its members. If there are any current developments needed, leaders are encouraged to improve health and patient care. All members are given a chance to participate in the decision-making process actively. Members can freely communicate and vote on issues concerning them and the health system(“AONL Advocacy Center | AONL,” 2020).
Current Outcomes of the Initiative
Nursing education is becoming more streamlined and modernized, and more nurses are becoming eligible for education funds. The number of highly educated nurses increases to take care of all populations (“AONL Advocacy Center | AONL,” 2020).
