The Knappstein family has been involved in the wine business in South Australia for more than a century.
Tim Knappstein is a third generation wine maker and he began his career in the family company, Stanley Wines, in the year 1966, after graduating with a degree in Oenology which is the study of wines.
Over the years Tim has amassed in excess of 500 show awards, including 120 gold medals and 24 trophies for the premium quality Leasingham range; all of this in a phase when modern technology was revolutionizing the entire value chain of wine making and wineries.
Following the sale of the Stanley Wine Company in 1971, Tim developed his own vineyards at Clare and started his own wine company, Tim Knappstein Wines.
He is well known for his no compromise approach to winemaking, producing style and quality standouts in a very competitive industry.
He has been at the forefront of innovation and is a pioneer in introducing new brands, styles to the Australian market.
Riposte, is his current venture where you get to experience the rich taste and flavor which has been delightfully combined with Tim’s expertise of four and a half decades in wine making and his boundless enthusiasm to keep making exceptional well priced wine, from premium cool climate grapes of the Adelaide Hills.
Currently Riposte is retailed through a set of agents in Australia as well as select regions across the globe like the USA, UK, Denmark, China and Indonesia. There is also an option of having the wines delivered, free of charge within Australia.
Tim can look at other ways of increasing the reach of Riposte, which is a fine wine and has been proven to be a multiple winner at different wine festivals across the globe. The true potential of Riposte has not been achieved in the current scenario. Newer markets have to be identified and strategies developed to grow the brand in those regions along with a concerted effort to increase the online presence of the brand, which till now has been restricted to Australia, largely.
