Team leading is delegated to particular member within the team who posses team leading and decision making skills. Other team members are assigned with certain individual tasks for the smooth operation of the project. The project manager also have to do the task of managing the project to achieve the goals set by the organization and protect the stakeholder interest and the task is being delegated by the Delivery Manager.
Responsibility is the obligation of a subordinate to properly perform the assigned duty. A project manager has the responsibility to perform the tasks assigned to him to meet the goals and objectives of the project as assigned by the Delivery Manager as per the client. Project manager has the responsibility to ensure that the project is getting completed within the time period and within the budget. Also he should ensure the success of the project. While delegating his tasks he is delegating the responsibilities also among the team members, team leads and operation manager to ensure the tasks are getting completed without deviation. Authority is also important for delegation. Authority is the right to control the subordinates and take necessary action within the scope of his role. The authority to control the project members and take necessary decisions to control the project activities is being delegated to the project manager. Project members should work according to the directions of the project manager. The authority increases with higher positions in the hierarchy.
Accountability means being answerable for the final outcome. The project manager is accountable for the final outcome of the project whether it is success or failure. Accountability cannot be delegated and the supervisor is always accountable for whatever tasks are delegated to the team members. If the operations manger does a mistake, project manager is accountable for the same since the task is delegated by the project manager. He should ensure the proper fulfillment of duties by the subordinates after delegation.
