Research assignment 3
Choose a print advertisement to analyze and write about for Research Assignment 3. You may use a print advertisement that is now available on the web, but you may not analyze any film (video/commercial) advertisements.
Include an image of the advertisement with Research Assignment 3 by attaching a .jpeg, .gif, or .png file. If I cannot open the file, or the format is anything other than the three I accept, the grade will be a zero.
You can also include the URL, and this will almost always work.
Write an explanation of how and why this visual argument works—or doesn’t work. Identify the ad’s author(s), audience(s), purpose(s), and message(s), as well as any ethos, pathos, and/or logos appeals. Then, consider how all of these factors come together to deliver an argument, and evaluate the overall effectiveness of this approach. In the end, is the argument effective? Why, or why not?
Be sure to provide specific examples from the advertisement to back up your points and carefully cite borrowed information (including the advertisement, any web sites and/or marketing materials consulted, and so on).
Note: This is the only Research Assignment where you will be asked to attach an image. The prose is still pasted/typed-in.
