1. Please read the instruction sheet carefully before starting your work – it may answer many of your questions already.
2. SWOT Analysis: Please list a minimum of 5 items in each category. To be exact, list >= 5 strengths, >=5 weaknesses, >=5 opportunities, >=5 threats. I will discuss some examples of these in class.
3. The Personal Development Plan Table: Please list at least (>=) 5 Personal Development Goals in the table. The sample table only lists 4, but you should find at least 5. The success criteria should be specific, i.e. measurable. For example, if your goal is to become a confident public speaker, how will you know that you are confident and you are perceived as such? Therefore, you would need to establish objective (measurable criteria) for this. For example, a measurable objective criterion could be: being able to speak for 30 minutes without looking at notes, making eye contact with someone in the audience every 20 seconds while speaking, projecting a confident voice (measured by decibels), receiving an evaluation by the audience through a questionnaire about my speech (measurable). This was an example of objective (measurable) criteria for a personal development goal.
However, you can also list intermediate personal development goals: For example, ‘I want to become an intermediate speaker of Spanish or Japanese, etc.” You would need to find objective (measurable) success criteria for the intermediate attainment of this goal. For example, attainment of intermediate Spanish could be measured by the achievement of Level B1 or B2 certification of the ‘Dele’ exam under the EU framework of language proficiency: this certification would mean: Understand a variety of medium, and somewhat demanding texts, as well as to grasp implicit meaning in the same, Expressing oneself fluently and spontaneously without much effort to find the right words, using the language flexibly and effectively for social, some academic and professional purposes, producing clear, well-structured texts about topics of limited complexity, correctly using mechanisms of organization, articulation and cohesion in the text. (as an example of measurable intermediate achievement of Spanish language proficiency).
Similarly, Japanese has the JLPT language proficiency framework (Levels, 4,3,2, 1). Level 1 being the highest, and levels 2 and 3 being intermediate. What would these levels mean in terms of knowledge of Kanji (Japanese characters), e.g. (approx. 1,000 characters or similar, level of usage context in social, academic, professional settings, etc.). Level of capability of speaking, reading, and writing.
Therefore, taking into account the above hints, please create specific success criteria for each of your personal development goals that you can measure.
