Create a Digital Story: What’s Your Story?
Should be 1:30-2:00 mins long and you can work in a group (2) on this project.
You make a story video using photographs as the main narrative tool.

Assignment Process
1- Research. Watch the biographic Digital Stories (see list). Take note of how they are made. Write down ideas and generate ideas for your story.
Script. Prepare a visual outline of what will be in your film.
Tip. Think about the idea of ‘show don’t tell’.

2- Practice. Shoot and collect photos. Record Voiceover (VO) and take room recording (zero) for audio atmosphere (find a silent place). Tip. Practice using equipment and test before you work on the assignment.

3- Editing: Bring together your photos and other materials. Monitor the sound with Closed Back Headphones. Use Adobe Premiere to work with (if possible). You may need to re-scale photos. Look for visual connections between photos.
Edit the VO and use Effect Filters (DeNoiser or Vocal Enhancer). Use music sparingly, available here (freesound.org). Put it all together.
Don’t include Assignment 1, my name, JRMC, AUC etc. Have Title, Date.
Export Video: H.264 – Preset YT 720 HD – Check File size and aspect ratio.
You can also do the editing on iMovie or similar consumer software although
Adobe Premiere gives you many production advantages.

4- Submit: Upload to YT your Digital Story then submit with a link.
Reflection Paper: What is the key to a good biographical story? (100 wc).

Camera: iPhone or Smart phone or DSLR Camera (if preferred).
Audio: iPhone or Smart phone or Zoom (if preferred).
Editing: Adobe Premiere or iMovie or similar consumer software. However, Premiere gives you many production advantages
